United Pastor Prayer Association (UPPA), Benin City
ABOUT UPPA – BY REV. PST. VASCO ABUDU
Jesus taught His disciples to pray thus “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven” - Matthew 6:10. The greatest purpose of prayer is to usher the kingdom of God, dethrone the government of Satan and establish God’s kingdom in the heart of men. Prayers bring heaven to bear upon the earth and bring God to bear upon the affairs of men.
God’s mighty men who had advanced the kingdom of God on earth and brought greater joy to mankind might have come from various backgrounds, received various assignments, employed various approaches, but they converged on a common ground – PRAYER!. They drank from the same fountain and were baptized in the same river – the Spirit of grace and supplication. They were men of resolve. They had a will to pray. They sought, found and laid hold on God. Like Jacob of old, they wrestled to prevail. They came out of their closet with salvation, deliverance, healing and joy for mankind. This is our primary purpose in UPPA.
UPPA is a place where men pray with vision and passion, they pray with their strength and life. In fact they pay the price of prayer the sweat, time and career. We are willing to give up anything and everything to pray. In summary, UPPA is:
A non-denominational and non-political Christian Association made up of pastors and gospel ministers from different denominations across the worlds who are united in prayers. Founded in Benin City, Edo state, Nigeria by Prophet J.O. Odigie in 1993 and with chapters in Nigeria, some other African countries and representatives in Europe and America. Duly registered as an incorporated body under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. With this in mind, we welcome all born again gospel ministers who have the fear of God, with the vision and passion to pray.
The pastors of UPPA meet every Tuesdays of every week by 9AM with fasting and prayers. This group has been meeting consistently without failing for almost two decades, within which we worship and praise God, sing hymns, give God thanks, pray for forgiveness, invite the Holy Spirit into our presence, give opportunities to at least two ministers for short exhortation and finally receive an hour of intensive message and prayers.
The weekly prayer points can be downloaded from the prayer center of the UPPA website www.uppainc.org.
